Home-Made Soap

I've been noticing how the real soap (not the bath bars that we usually call "soap") lasts until the bar is tiny. It doesn't fall to pieces. It doesn't crumble away. You get to use the whooooole bar and none is wasted.

I really need to make a few batches of soap. It's been over a year and a half since I last made soap, and I've only got one bar left. That poor lone bar sure ain't gonna last me until I get my next batch made and aged. Unless I shower once a week .... hmmm, might work....

  4. All right, Rachel. Does this mean that this is "not of general interest" and I should delete all these comments????

  5. Not at all.

Fight Club is a wonderful movie, a cult classic. You should see it. True, it has lots of violence, a fair amount of language, some nudity- BUT it has a wonderful section on how to make soap.

That being said, I certainly wouldn't recommend the movie for anyone under the age of... 9... unless they're a responsible 9 ofc.

Rachael is referring to the material they use in the movie to make soap. Since it involves fat, they found the best place to get such fat was from the dumpsters of the liposuction (sp?) clinic. Gross... but effective.

  8. Let's put it this way- Mom, you know what it is about A Beautiful Mind that always makes us wonder if we're crazy? Fight Club has that, too.

And to me, Fight Club was only just okay. Most boys I know think it's brilliant- I just felt uncomfortable throughout.

Plus, it's one of those movies that I'd be inclined to say you (mom) probably shouldn't watch- like Minority Report.

(I think I watched it with Philip and/or Katie... but I'm not sure. They could back me up on you not wanting to see it.)
