And then today, I walked into Shopko to see if there were any slippers to fit Paul. (You do realize, don't you, that buying slippers in January is as completely outlandish as trying to buy a swimsuit in late July or August? Yikes -- these stores....) And right in the entryway of Shopko were the last few remnants of their Christmas "gotta-go" stuff. A very nice $200 artificial fir, with lights attached, for $40. Given what our income is likely to be by next Christmas, and given that this tree costs what ONE real tree costs, I'd rather have the artificial tree than none at all.
So we are now the
Artificial is still not my favorite, but after taking off the few ornaments Jacob put on it this year, I took off the top piece, then picked up the bigger bottom piece, held it upside down so it fell into place and stuck it in the box. No needles or sap to clean up. (After the 1st year you will stop trying to water it.)
ReplyDeleteOr, if space and money permit, you could have two. :) Our fake tree has been around for years...and people think it is real. (That one is in the family room.) We put up a real tree in the livingroom. You did get a great deal! Oh...and if you do have the ability to buy a real tree....go ahead and just keep this one in the box. :)
ReplyDeleteTwo? Yikes! One of the reasons we put our tree up so late is not from a sense of "keeping Advent for Advent" but because we just don't have space in the house for a tree -- so we have it up for only two weeks because all the crowding we can take! I figure if we've got $15 for a tree and can find a fresh-cut one for that, we'll leave the artificial one in the box.
ReplyDeleteLaura, I'm trying to figure where you guys would fit one in the family room.
Mom, I laughed about the watering it!!
We get very cozy around here...but we like it. :) We have a third tree on the table in the kitchen. :) Everything is down now...and Philip says it looks so boring. (But we got soooo much more space.) BTW the tree in family room goes right in front of the window next to the chair and end table. Ben's toy shelf was in the entry way.
