Hot Peppers

What is it that makes male-type persons feel more manly when they consume more Scoville heat units than the next guy???

Whatever makes a man take pride in his courage and toughness when he's got tears running down his cheeks from the heat of a Habanero?

I just don't get it.

  1. I haven't dared someone to an eat-off of hot foods since college. I will eat the hot stuff, though, when I'm in the middle of a sinus blockage. Works better than the de-fanged Sudafed sold nowadays.

When I go to Buffalo Wild Wings, sure, I could eat the Blazin' wings, but I'd regret it later. They also didn't have as much real taste as some of the sauces that would rate 3 or 4 out of 5 instead of 5 out of 5.

Habanero by itself doesn't give me the flavor I want, but Mango Habanero is good. For pepper sauces by themselves, I prefer either a Tabasco or a Chipotle.

  2. Ah, interesting point about the TASTE as opposed to the heat. Also interesting about the medicinal use of peppers; that is certainly something that resonates with me.

But I tell ya... the men in this house certainly have a greater fascination with "Man vs Food" than do the females in the house. LOL. And there's something about teenage boys that just demands they strut their stuff by eating more hot peppers and more slices of pizza than the next teenage boy. Having never been a teenage boy myself, I just sit back and watch in confusion.

  3. In my house, it's the man that has that sort of relationship with hot peppers and the teenage boy that sits back and watches in amused puzzlement.
