Wishful Thinking

Give me spring, lots of spring,
under sunny skies above --
don't fence me in.
Let me be in the wide open spaces that I love
[in summery warmth] --
don't fence me in.

So, will the sheets actually dry before it's dark and time to bring them in? Probably not. Hopefully, though, they'll retain a little of the outdoorsy scent while they finish drying in the machine.

  1. I haven't tried that. My mom dried everything all year outside back in the sixties and early seventies. It must be possible. I might give it a try just to get outside more!!!! I love the outside smell too.

  2. The first load dried just fine in an hour. But the breeze has died down and the clouds have overtaken the sun. The second load isn't coming along quite as fast.

The fresh smell is nice, but it's not as sweet as during summer when the flowers and the hay and the clover are out.

  3. Alex installed a clothesline on our balcony last year, but the clothes won't dry during summer. It's too humid, plus, they get all kind of bugs on them. If I don't re-wash all the clothes, we end up getting bites all over our bodies. I finally decided it's not worth it. Virginia + summer + bugs = just use the dryer.

  4. That makes sense, Meghan. Just like here you don't line-dry during winter. But today it was so warm (hey, 30s; don't laugh at me, Southern Girl) and helpfully windy. And sheets are thin; they dry fast.
