Why do so many contestants say they're doing this "for my kid"? Does it really benefit the kid for Mom or Dad to go to Hollywood, leave munchkins with extended family, and not see the son or daughter?
The other thing that drives me nuts is when the single mom's say that they want to be an example to other teens. Dumping your child for months to potentially earn a lot of money in a career that will have you away from home for extended periods of time is not an example of good parenting. It's a good example of selfishness. But the American culture is based on selfishness these days.
This reminds me of a Faith Hill commercial where she was on tour and singing goodnight lullabies to her children over a cell phone. It was meant to tug at your heart strings but I usually yelled at Faith through the TV screen "Go home to your babies"
I have to admit I am an Idol fan, but I agree. I stated that when the guy was auditioning a day after his first child was born. What was he thinking? Was he prepared to miss the first few months of his child's life to chase a dream that possibly was not even a dream that was for him. I do not get that. I with you on this!
Swinging from one extreme to the other, either busy or vegging, orderly or cluttered, meals par excellence or insta-food, schoolwork all day or not at all. Good thing my husband is well-balanced.
