The Joy of a Job Well-Done (or at least Well-Attempted)

Although there is a need for relaxation (especially for those who tend to be perfectionist workaholics), too much rest and pampering oneself is quite unsatisfying and leaves a person restless. Pastor recently mentioned the joy that results from doing what you're supposed to do, tackling the duties God gave you. It's not the joy of the forgiveness of sins, but it's a very real left-hand-kingdom joy. And it's a joy that permeates even jobs that are, in themselves, distasteful.

  1. I agree, although I never put much thought into it. There are a million things that need to get done everyday (as you're well aware), and it is satisfying when, at the end of the day, my kids are in bed and all my duties are done.

  2. I agree, and I HAVE thought about it before. I have been in Meghan's shoes, as a wife and stay at home mom and now that I look back I can see that the job God gave me to do, I did faithfully, to the best of my ability. But then I look to what I currently do and there is still that "job well done" mentality that I adopted years ago. So what I am getting at is not the job, necessarily, but the attitude. All jobs have difficulties and joys, but at the end of the day I can rejoice and thank the Lord that he has blessed me with hands and voice and love to do my job - and do it well!
