My Kitchen Counter

Y'know, there are times when an electric can opener would be very handy. Like today:

But then I look at the space lack of space on my kitchen counter, and I realize that hand-cranking a can opener is way better than having something else take up 25 square inches of precious counter space every single day.

  1. I have always preferred a mechanical to an electric can opener. Open a can, rinse the can opener. So easy. It's not as convenient to clean the electric one. I think some people never do because I have seen some really disgusting, gunked up electric can openers over the years. Yuck.

  2. I was told by my doctor that I should use and electric can opener because of my arthritis. So I bought the cheapest one I could find. The only time I use it is when I'm making a huge batch of Cowboy Soup or chili, because they take so many cans. The rest of the time, it's so much easier to just grab the manual one.

  3. It hurts my hands to use the hand one, but I use it anyway-vicariously. I ask a kid to do it. They love being strong enough to help Mom. :)

  4. I like having an electric one, especially since tuna cans are such a nuisance. The shorter the cans the more I have to contort, blech.
