Isn't that incredible? Maybe he knows the cop. So, we can run people off the road as long as we don't hit them? I'll tell the kids...what fun we can have now. :)
At least he stopped to make sure you were alright...and he did admit fault. Maybe it the system and it rules that are totally goofy?
It sounds like it's the system the rules. And yes, our insurance agent told us (as Andrea wrote in a comment last week) that the person who drives super-recklessly and shoves all sorts of people off the road and causes all sorts of damage ... can go free and unpunished as long as they don't hit anyone themselves. Our insurance agent told us that we'd be much better off if I had barely nicked him or scratched the paint a bit. (LOL -- as if you could control the vehicle during an accident so that you could get just the other guy's taillight??)
Lauri, I know the policeman said something about the weather effecting the other driver's actions.
Can they give you a ticket if the police weren't there to see it and there are no cameras?
I'm so sorry that you are going through all this. Having worked for an insurance company years ago I remember seeing things like this and being frustrated that the rules don't always work well.
Swinging from one extreme to the other, either busy or vegging, orderly or cluttered, meals par excellence or insta-food, schoolwork all day or not at all. Good thing my husband is well-balanced.
WHY??? Are you going to ask why?

ReplyDeleteThe semi driver that hit Tracy and I was not ticketed either. And there were TONS of witnesses!
Things like this drive me crazy.
