The Passing of a Homeschooling Era

This morning I purchased postage stamps.  The artwork is exemplary.  Half the sheet is full of quotes and history-tidbits.

And nobody will say, "MOM, let ME see!!"  "No, me first!"  "Wow!"  And my favorite: "You aren't going to put those on letters and send them AWAY, are you?  Do you HAVE to?"

This morning was a huge reminder of a life that's been left behind.

  1. Sigh. Yes. I don't know how much you enjoy the music of James Taylor. But these kinds of moments make me think of one of his songs called "Letter in the Mail." The song reflects on a small town of the narrator's past that isn't the way it used to be. There's a line in the song about paying one's respects to "a time that has all but gone." We are in the phase of life when those moments of realizing something has passed that isn't coming back happen a little more frequently than they used to.
